At St.Columba's we have been thinking of ways to Care for 'Our Beautiful World'. At St.Columba's the children have been keeping busy with Forest School and in Our After School Gardening Club we have been thinking of ways to support Bio-Diversity. We are so thankful for the Extensive, Beautiful Area that we have in Our School Grounds and work hard to maintain it.
Our Primary 3, 4 and 5 Class, in partnership with Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful/Eco-Schools, participated in the 'Wheelie Big Challenge'. We completed an in-depth Research into the waste disposal process here in our school and took action; our 'Bin Thieves' found the 'Bin Villains!'.
We then presented our findings to the school and implemented positive changes in our school to reduce waste. Our findings were sent to Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, we were shortlisted among other schools in the Derry and Strabane District area and were invited to an Awards Ceremony.
Some Children were chosen to represent our school at the Awards Ceremony in Foyle Arena on Tuesday 21st June and...We Won!!
Our Class received First Prize of £500.

A massive thank you to the children for all their hard work and enthusiasm and for being Our Eco Super Heros.
