Sustrans Active School Travel Programme.

16th Sep 2024
Donna our dedicated Sustrans Active Travel Officer for our school was out to visit last week to plan our year working in collaboration with Sustrans to develop our active, healthy school travel ideas.  We know our location is not easily accessible for everyone to cycle walk or scoot to school each day (or even once and while) so Donna has some creative and innovative ideas of how we can encourage this from time to time at least! Cycle to School Week runs from 23rd to 27th September and aims to encourage children to experience how travelling actively can be healthy, cheap and fun.  Whilst cycling or scooting to our school might not be the safest we know most of our children enjoy cycling and scooting to other places after school and at the weekend.  To encourage cycle safety and celebrate Cycle to School Week Donna is hosting a Pedal Ready Day in School on Tuesday 24th Sept.  Parents will receive a permission letter in their child's school bag tomorrow to be signed and returned.  children should bring their bikes or scooters to school on Tuesday morning to participate in the activities planned throughout the day.  If needed bikes can be left at the school on Monday 23rd after school in order to avoid the morning rush on Tuesday!. This is a great opportunity for the children to have fun and learn about safe cycling and healthy and active travel and we can't wait to build on our partnership with Sustrans throughout the school year!!
